IS CORIAN SAME AS SOLID SURFACE

Corian is the brand name for DuPont's flagship solid countertop surface stock . Its primary use, though it has many other uses, is as a countertop / benchtop board. It is composed of polymer acrylic and trihydrate alumina (ATH), a substance extracted from bauxite ores. It is a man-made product which consists of 33% binding resins and 66% minerals. Corian was the brand name initially meaning firm base. Solid surface countertops were first produced by DuPont in 1967, and are now manufactured by many other manufacturers, including the Avonite, Staron, and Mystera brands.

Corian is resistant to stain and is also Non-porous.

Seamless appearance: Joints can be made almost transparent in the production process by connecting the related parts with Corian's own color balanced two-part acrylic adhesive.  The surface is sanded and cleaned after the adhesive dries to create a quasi-seamless joint. This smooth look is a hallmark of the material.

Repairable and renewable: with a Scotch-Brite pad or orbital sander, cuts and bruises can be buffed off. Corian gets scratched relatively frequently, but with an abrasive surface, slight marks – and even other blemishes – may be buffed off.

Thermoformable: Versatile when heated, Corian can be formed and molded into virtually infinite shapes that can be used by a method called thermoformaking in commercial and creative ventures.

Heat resistance: the material is heat resistant to up to 100 ° C (212 ° F), but the excess heat will hurt.
Scratching: The coating may get scratched, which is more visible in darker colours.
